Dr Michelle (k/a Mikhaila) Muscat has completed her PhD via a British University.
Dr Muscat’s main area of medical interest is chemical pathology. This speciality of laboratory medicine and clinical biochemistry ranges from the analysis, interpretation and management of basic laboratory investigations such as cholesterol levels, kidney and liver function to an array of more specialised biochemical laboratory investigations used to aid both the diagnosis and management of disease.
She commented: “It is fascinating how much can already be done with a mere blood or urine sample. With the advent of new and more sensitive analytical techniques being brought into clinical practice, test repertoires will potentially expand even further.”
Dr Muscat is passionate about educating and communicating her subject to wider and more diverse audiences.
Her doctoral research was part-funded through the Endeavour Scholarship Scheme.
