Charles Camilleri completed a memorable double in the Premier Class yesterday after he steered Made in Hoff and Vanmaker Limburgia to victory in the two races from the top class during the 33rd meeting of the season in Marsa.

Twelve horses lined up for the first class Premier race of the day.

It was Quel Noir (Jesmar Gafà) the fastest horse in the early stages.

The French ten-year-old trotter built a length lead from Italian newcomer Ishull Di Poggio (Shawn Portelli) and Swedish debutante Wiss Roadrunner (Mario Farrugia).

However with 400m to go, Quel Noir started to slow down and Made In Hoff (Charles Camilleri) dashed strongly from the outside to gain its second win of the year ahead off Wiss Roadrunner and Original Blue (Chris Cassar).

Blizzard Ad (Frenċu Cassar) finished fourth.

The winner clocked an average time of 1.16.1” per kilometre.

There was a keen tussle bet-ween German Vanmaker Limburgia (Charles Camilleri) and French newcomer Quillian Joyeux (Andrew Farrugia) in the final straight of the second class Premier race.

The former sealed its first win in Malta with favourite Yanantin Boko (Darren Mizzi) and Swedish debutante Mad Image (Rodney Gatt) completing the top four order.

Vanmaker Limburgia registered an average time of 1.16.3” per kilometer.

Another meeting at the Marsa Racetrack will be held on Sunday.

The first race starts at 1.30pm.
