The Malta University SSC Andro team have established themselves as the ones to beat in the Malta Table Tennis Association National League this season after ending the first round on top of the standings and well clear of their nearest rivals.

SSC Andro are formed of coaches from the TopSpin Academy including Edward Baldacchino, Daniel Bajada, Matthew Micallef and Alex Soler.

They’re the only side in the top three of the league without a foreign player.

Baldacchino has again established himself as the no.1 player in the National League while Malta champion Bajada continued to show progress in his game also aided by his experience outside the country, particularly in the Italian league.

Micallef and Soler are former junior champions.

They’ve produced some remarkable performances in the first round of the MTTA championship.

Micallef beat Viktoria Lucenkova, who played for Malta in the GSSE, while Soler distinguished himself in a comeback win over Swedish player Erik Nordlander.
