Brazilian striker Jorge Santos this week became Tarxien Rainbows’ fifth foreigner for the new season after penning a one-year contract with the Premier League club.

Santos is no newcomer to Maltese football having made his debut here for Vittoriosa Stars in 2010 before his transfer to Sliema Wanderers and then Birkirkara in the 2012 January transfer window.

Tarxien said in a statement that Santos signed his contract im-mediately after arriving in Malta on Tuesday.

“For sure he will be a great asset to the team,” Tarxien said.

So far, the other non-Maltese players in Clive Mizzi’s squad at Tarxien will be Ronaille Calheira, Everton Souza Pedalada and Fer-nando Lopez Alcantara (all Brazil) and Marko Potezica (Serbia).

Tarxien start their 2013-14 BOV Premier League campaign with a match against Hibs on Sunday.
