The Victoria and Xagħra Scout Groups organised a church parade and Mass at the Maria Bambina Basilica in Xagħra to mark the birthday of the Scout movement’s founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell and the 10th anniversary of the reactivation of the Xagħra Scout Group.

Xagħra archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo celebrated Mass, assisted by Mgr George Farrugia and deacon Joseph Hili. During Mass the Scouts, together with Xagħra Scout Group Leader Josmar Azzopardi, reaffirmed their Scout Promise.

After Mass, as part of the Grow 10 Trees scheme, the Scouts sowed seeds of local trees and plants which they later took home to care for so that in a year’s time they will be planted in the groups’ localities, the Scout Association’s campsite at Għajn Tuffieħa and other Natura 2000 sites around Malta and Gozo.

A hike from Għasri to Marsalforn and games for all at Qbajjar were organised for both groups.
