Tennis Club Kordin, in association with the Malta Tennis Federation, is hosting another edition of the San Michel International Ranking U-14 tournament next month.

For this year’s edition 128 boys and 61 girls have registered to take part in the tournament.

The 2017 tournament is expected to provide some high-quality tennis with Leo Borg, of Sweden, the highest ranked player in the boys competition while Nika Strasek, of Slovenia, ranked 117 in the world, is the top seed in the girls competition.

Looking at the entry field in the tournament one finds players coming from several countries across the world, including Kazakshstan, New Caledonia, Estonia and Russia. In the boys tournament, Malta will be represented by Alex Degabriele (ranked 370), Matthew Grixti (498), Forbes Hollingsworth, Daniel Soller and Aleck Vella.

Emma Mallia, ranked 629th, will represent Malta in the girls tournament.

The tournament will get under way on June 30 with the draws of the qualifying rounds which will be played between July 1 and 2.

The main draw will get under way on July 3 and will come to an end on July 8.

Players are to sign in for this draw on July 2, while the signing in for the doubles draw is to be held on July 3, with matches starting the following day.
