Valletta FC president Victor Sciriha has demanded a public apology for comments he claims were made by his Floriana counterpart Johann Said accusing him of bribery.

Mr Sciriha sent a legal letter to Mr Said saying it had come to his knowledge that before the FA Trophy final last Sunday, Mr Said had publicly declared that if Floriana lost the match he would report Mr Sciriha to the police for bribery.

Mr Said allegedly said Mr Sciriha had approached Floriana FC committee members and players and offered them bribes to win the game.

The comments were made in the presence of Bjorn Vassallo, the Malta Football Association CEO, and Jeffery Farrugia, who were both ready to confirm this, Mr Sciriha said.

He said Mr Said’s actions were illegal not only criminally but also under the MFA statute, and if a public apology was not made immediately he would be taking further legal action.

The letter sent to Mr Said was signed by lawyer Roberto Montalto.
