The Air Rifle and Pistol Shooting Club have just organised the 10th round of competitions for the current season at the Larry Vella Hall range, Bidnija.

In Air Rifle, William Vella emerged winner with a score of 595.1. He was followed by GianLuca Azzopardi Spiteri, 568.9, and Michael Xuereb, 547.9.

Vella showed he is in fine form in the final round when managing 201.3 points. Junior shooter Jeremy Pisani was making his debut in this competition.

In the ‘mixed’ Air Pistol qualifying event, Eleanor Bezzina took the lead with a score of 563 from a possible 600. Raymond Cacciattolo followed with 545 ahead of Antoine Attard with 533.

The final round of the shoot produced a few changes as Attard leapfrogged to second place and Romeo Zuber followed in third leaving Cacciattolo out of the podium positions.

Attard was in strong contention for the first place until the last round but his bold effort was not enough to match Bezzina’s overall score.

Bezzina was coming from her participation at the European Championships in Gyor, Hungary. In all, 599 shooters, from 47 countries, participated in 16 individual events.

Bezzina scored a total of 377 from 400 points, just two points away from an Olympic quota.
