Darren Vella had the better of Noel Scicluna in the decisive medal match to win the MSSF Skeet Selection last weekend.

The competition was over 125 clays with the top six skeet shooters qualifying for the semi-finals on 16 clays, followed by the medal matches for the top three positions on another 16 clays.

Vella claimed the title after hitting 11 points to Scicluna’s nine. The latter progressed to the top medal match after beating Bozidhar Dimitrov in a shoot-off.

Meanwhile, Nathan Lee Xuereb pipped William Chetcuti to top spot in the double trap selection shoot.

Chetcuti produced the best total in the qualifying round with 135 points, nine more than Xuereb but the young shooter edged out his team-mate by one point, 26 to 25, in the medal match.
