Darren Vella was the overall winner of the MSG Skeet Selection shoot organised yesterday by the Malta Shooting Sport Federation at its ranges in Bidnija to determine those shooters representing the country at the 2012 European Commonwealth Championships.

Vella placed first ahead of Clive Farrugia and Noel Scicluna.

The winner shot the best rounds in competition – 112 – and also had the highest score in the barrage where he smashed 23 clays, the same as Scicluna who, however, only managed 106 before the final.

The Commonwealth champion-ships will be staged in Jersey, in September.
