After reading the article by Joseph Busuttil entitled "Confessions of a quit-smoking facilitator" (Weekender, February 7) I decided that this humble person, who is so passionately devoted to serve the community, deserves a big round of applause. But being who he is, a quiet man working on the sidelines, I do not think he would like so much praise.

This great man has devoted his life to helping others. With a huge super-glued smile and bright twinkling blue eyes, he brings hope to many. Being a therapist at Mount Carmel Hospital is no mean feat but, as he himself claims, he awaits life's many challenges with an "evergreen positive attitude reinforced by a strong stoic element".

Be it cloudy or sunny, rays of sunshine and a winning smile, which steals the hearts of many, surround him. Even the most depressed cannot help but smile when in his presence. Many await with eager anticipation his daily visits. Those who are in the throes of depression see him as their hope, their guardian angel in disguise.

Mr Busuttil never gives up on anyone; he tries his best to bring fulfilment and life to those who have given up on life itself. He is kindness personified; his is the ability to love people more than they love themselves or than they think they deserve. "The people who are really great are not those who try to belittle your ambitions but those who make you feel that you too can become great" - Mark Twain. To the world you might be one person but to each and every person you greet every day you mean the world to him or her.

Keep up the good work and may God bless you in all you do for you are a true treasure. People like you, Mr Busuttil, are not easy to come by in this day and age.
