Giuseppe Verdi’s charming masterpiece Aida is being performed by the Dutch-based company Opera Spanga in Valletta.

Under the direction of Corina van Eijk, this dynamic retelling of the classic opera explores topical themes of conflict between the Church and State, while making a timeless claim for peace.

The performance will feature the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and exhibit film and production design, aided by Mcast students, as well as costume design created under the guidance of local fashion duo Charles & Ron.

Aida is being presented at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta today and on Saturday at 7.30pm. Tickets may be obtained at www.showshappening.com.
