The Ambassador of Malta to the US, Pierre Clive Agius, led a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery on August 15.

This was the first time for a Maltese ambassador to lay a wreath at this important military cemetery.

Mr Agius chose the date specifically to commemorate the arrival of the Convoy of Santa Marija and the 75th anniversary of Operation Husky which was launched from Malta by General Eisenhower and which led to the liberation of Italy during World War II.

Mr Agius is terminating his mission in Washington DC shortly.

A video of the ceremony can be viewed at: https://youtu.be/ophkdlIBysQ .
