Two days after setting a new national mark of 16:52.61 in the 1,500 metres freestyle, Neil Agius was again in record mood on Sunday in the Berlin International Swim Festival when he registered 4:19.32 in the 400m freestyle, 1.65 seconds inside his previous best set in Millfield, England early in January.

This time also meant that the 18-year-old swimmer reached another signpost since he went below the barrier of 4:20.

It is now hoped that the next trials will be a further stepping stone towards more improvement and, hopefully, rightful qualification for the Games of the Small States of Europe in Andorra starting late next month.

ASA officials said that apart from Agius, the other three swimmers, Kyle Scerri, Angela Galea and Davina Mangion, did well in Berlin, considering that this is still the building up phase before the peak period late next month and in time for the GSSE.

Hungarian coach, Steven Kormos, was reported as saying that he is very satisfied with his swimmers' times, some of which were their best so far this season.
