Balzan FC have added Asian talent to their squad when they reached an agreement to sign Yudai Miyamoto.

The 21-year-old Japanese midfielder was on the books of Tokyo FC where he played for the U-21 team before moving to Europe where he signed for Lithuanian club DFK Dainava.

Miyamoto arrived in Malta this summer and underwent a number of trials where he managed to draw the attention of Balzan technical director Vladimir Simovic and head coach Marko Micovic.

"Yudai boasts great speed with and without the ball," Simovic told the Times of Malta.

"There is a huge potential to work with as Yudai is still very young and in time we can transform him in a player of great quality."

Miyamoto will be joining his new team-mates at Balzan for training this evening as the Reds step up their preparations for Saturday's Premier League match against Qormi at the Tedesco Stadium.

Balzan opened their league campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Birkirkara last week.
