Malta Dairy Products, which produces Benna fresh milk, has recalled some fresh milk as a precautionary measure after clients complained of an unusual taste.

The company said the affected milk cartons have the following batch codes

Milk 2.5% fat 1Litre (Blue carton) with this batch code;

LZ2461500 to LZ2461700 – Date of Expiry WED 09/09

LX2461500 to LX2461700 – Date of Expiry WED 09/09

LZ2470600 to LZ2470810 – Date of Expiry WED 09/09

Skimmed Milk 1 Litre (Green carton) with this batch code;

LY2471010 to LY2471320 – Date of Expiry WED 09/09

LY2471321 to LY2471520 – Date of Expiry FRI 11/09

LZ2471320 to LZ2471520 – Date of Expiry FRI 11/09

The cartons should be returned to the shops where they were brought  from so that they could  be exchanged.

"This is being done as a particular taste was identified in one of the company  supplier’s milk during various routine tests carried out by the company," MDP said

"The tests carried out on the milk provided by this supplier, have revealed there are no health hazards."

The company apologised for the inconvenience this incident could cause.
