The ninth edition of Birgufest – an extravaganza of music, candlelight, food, and fun – will be held between Friday and Sunday.
Vittoriosa mayor John Boxall said that this year’s edition will be focused on education, as all schools were invited to sample a flavour of Birgu’s rich history, with medieval re-enactments and guided tours to the St Lawrence Parish Church, the Inquisitor’s Palace and the Benedictine Nuns Monastery amongst others.
On Saturday evening, all street lights will be switched off and the city will be lit up by the soft glow of candlelight in the popular Birgu by Candlelight.
Museums, churches and other places of interest will also open their doors to the public once again.
Parking will be available at the football ground at Fortini and near the Kalkara Boċċi Club. A park and ride service from Kordin (near Hibs ground) and Garden Road, Żabbar, to the Vittoriosa bus terminus will be organised.
