A British Airways flight bound for London Gatwick diverted to Rome on Monday afternoon because of a minor technical issue, the airline said.

The Airbus A320 departed Luqa airport shortly after 12pm and diverted to Rome where it landed safely just over an hour later.  

Passengers were directed to another flight which was due to depart Rome at 2pm.
