A 47-year-old man has been extradited to Bulgaria to serve a prison term for rape.

The Bulgarian man was arrested just over a month ago in Zabbar on the strength of a European Arrest Warrant, the police said.

Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech authorised the extradition on December 14.
