This month the La Scatola Magica series is celebrating 60 years of the Fiat 500.
The Cinquecento was the replacement of the much loved Topolino and became adored as Italy’s “people’s car”.
In post-war Europe, each country developed their own inexpensive small family car, each reflecting the national character.
Today, 60 years later, the Fiat 500 is synonymous with Italian flair. Capturing the spirit and optimism of the time, it reflected the narrow streets and the busy and stylish lifestyle of the modernising and forward looking Italy.
The Fiat 500 was originally manufactured from 1957 to 1975 and a new model debuted in 2007 to mark its 50th anniversary.
Guest speaker Shawn Abela will talk about Fiat 500, being a member of Classic Fiat 500 Group Malta, and a proud owner of a Fiat 500 himself.
He will answer questions before concluding the evening, over a glass of wine and some treats.
The talk will take place at the Italian Culture Institute in Valletta, tomorrow at 6.30pm. Entrance is free.
