The Convent of the Sacred Heart will be celebrating its centenary next scholastic year and to mark the event, the school has decided to build an auditorium, a gymnasium for the Junior School and a multi-purpose hall.

The auditorium, with seating capacity for about 600, will offer the school opportunities to celebrate occasions such as prize days, Christmas celebrations, concerts and special school assemblies.

"We believe that this would be a wonderful venue for the students to celebrate their talents, develop them and share them with others," the school said.

The site has been strategically chosen to be easily accessible to both sections of the school.

"We are hoping to have the official opening of the complex in October, 2003, which will close the centenary year.

The school is appealing for donations from past students and parents.
