This Saturday, local designers Charles & Ron will be representing Malta at Fashion Night Ignites at Perry Belmont House in Washington DC, an event that aims to bring together diplomacy, fashion and philanthropy in a mission to support global designers. The exclusive event, which is expected to be attended by high-profile politicians, diplomats and entertainers, is the brainchild of Indira Gumarova, the wife of the Czech ambassador to the US, and writer Zarah Burstein, whose work has been featured in publications ranging from The New York Times to Politico, and E! News to the Hollywood Reporter.

Speaking exclusively to The Times of Malta ahead of the event, Ron van Maarschalkerweerd Borg commented that “it’s an absolute honour to be selected to represent Malta during this event. The Maltese Embassy in Washington, which approached us for this, has been incredibly helpful, and we look forward to promoting Maltese tradition, culture and fashion – as well as our beautiful home – during this celebration.”

For the event, Charles & Ron will be showcasing eight looks from their Fabiola collection, which was unveiled at New York Fashion Week last February and which is set to hit the runway of Los Angeles Fashion Week this Thursday. Joining the designers will be Slovenia’s Maja Stamol, Czech Republic’s Poner, and the US’s Dur Doux.
