Organised by a group of volunteers, September 19 will see more than 35 i-companies – most of them i-gaming – gather 10 of their employees for a day of competitive fun field games, sports and athletic activities. The aim is to raise funds for three local charities while bringing the i-gaming community closer to the Maltese public.

This fund-raising day, sponsored by Betting Connections among others, will be the first of its kind in Malta and will be held for Inspire, an organisation providing services for people with disabilities; Puttinu Cares, a cancer support group for children; and Re/Max & Friends, a foundation set up by a local company organising events and donating to various local causes.

Events on the day will include track events such as the 100m CEO’s dash, sack and potato races as well as high jump, longest tennis ball throw and 60m piggyback race.

Community work by HSBC

HSBC Malta staff have been busy undertaking a number of community projects.

Staff from the Birżebbuġa branch carried out cleaning works at The Enrichetta Centre in the locality, a family resource centre, while in Gozo more HSBC employees organised a clean-up on the hill facing Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary.

Seven volunteers then cleaned the Fra Diegu Home’s summer residence in Xemxija so the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart could move child-ren there for the summer.

In Marsaxlokk, a team of volunteers successfully organised a dog walk in support of Island Sanctuary which cares for abandoned dogs. Also in Marsaxlokk, 27 other staff members carried out yearly maintenance at Xrobb l-Għaġin Nature Park.

In Marsascala, staff from the five community support teams sweated it out at Dar Frate Jacoba, a home for disadvantaged child-ren, and cleared out onsite rubble as well as pruning the gardens. Another batch of volunteers spent time at Dar Frate Jacoba producing 50 cloth bags, which were later used to raise funds.

Meanwhile, a donation of tins of preserves was made to the Sisters of Mother Theresa in Cospicua, and another community support activity will soon follow there, involving resident children.

HSBC volunteers also donated a total of 15 blood bags to mark the 15th anniversary of the bank in Malta. As 2015 is also the 150th anniversary year of the HSBC Group, the volunteer teams are aiming to collect 150 bags of blood by the end of the year.
