Former Police Inspector Dr David Gatt, who on Tuesday was accused of complicity in a string of major hold-ups, has been expelled from the Labour Party.

Party leader Joseph Muscat confirmed that Dr Gatt had been a party delegate last year. He did not remain a delegate after the last general conference.

He said that Dr Gatt was dismissed from the party today.

Dr Muscat said Dr Gatt had held no executive post and was one of 700 party delegates.

He was never asked to be a party candidate.
