Daiso’s prank knives, called Dokkiri Cutters, have dulled edges and an indentation to make them fit around a finger, tricking people into thinking the knife has sliced through.

But a packaging mix-up saw the discount chain package real utility knives with sharp blades, which the store also sells, in Dokkiri Cutters packaging.

Daiso issued a prompt recall across Japan before any injuries were reported.
