A 28-year-old Italian was injured on Thursday morning in a crash at Mosta Road, St Paul's Bay.

The police said the crash took place at 7.30am and involved the Italian's Honda Motorcycle and a Hyundai I20 driven by a 53-year-old Briton.

The police said the Italian was seriously injured.

The accident caused a long traffic jam, with the police warning motorists to seek alternative routes. 

The police are investigating.
