An 89-year-old woman had died after testing positive for COVID-19.

She was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital on October 23 and tested positive on the same day, the Health Ministry said.

She passed away late on Tuesday. 

The ministry said she had underlying medical conditions.

COVID-19 has claimed 56 people in Malta so far.
