The captain of a boat in distress was yesterday assisted by two Emergency Response and Rescue Corps volunteers and members of the Civil Protection Department after a rope fouled the boat's propeller in Marsalforn.

The two volunteers threw a line to the captain and helped pull the boat to shore, allowing him to jump safely.

The boat was later pulled further into the bay the help of locals and was lifted from the sea with a crane later at night.
