Week eight of the Middlesea Valletta Life National League at the Eden SuperBowl saw the season's first titanic clash between champions Aercomms and Fina First, the latter pulling out all the stops to claim a thrilling full-point victory and steal top spot from the losing side.

The common result in all five of the other Division One matches was 6-2, with HSBC getting the better of Right Deal, Ramis taking six from Redwell Heating as did Sagio Investments at Royal Shock's expense.

La Spigola went down against Faces and Sammy's Embroideries lost 6-2 against Vintage in the other two top-flight fixtures.

Sagio leapfrogged Royal Shock in the classification to take fourth place, although both sides are level on points.

Eight-placed Ramis continue to recuperate from their poor start to the season while Sammy's stay third behind Fina First and Aercomms.

HSBC can be happy with their first season in Division One. They are now sixth in the standings on 32 points.

Fina First had an axe to grind with Aercomms, the needle between the two high-flying teams making this first meeting of the season an eagerly awaited affair.

Fina First's mettle was clear from the opening frame of game one, which they won by a big 99-pin margin (823-724) and then Aercomms were left fuming as Fina made it 4-0 by taking game two 832-770.

A line-up change did nothing to help Aercomms' plight in game three, as the Fina supremos rolled their best game of the set (883-772) to make it 8-0. Fina are now leading the standings eight points ahead of their nearest rivals.
