No one was injured in what police said was a small fire in a hair salon in Tower Road, Sliema, on Wednesday.

The blaze in the semi-basement salon was noticed at about 6pm and the Civil Protection Department deployed three fire-engines.

The blaze was quickly controlled.

The busy road was closed for some time, creating a long traffic jam.
