Firefighters from the Civil Protection Department were summoned to put out two separate fires this afternoon.
CPD members were first summoned to Żabbar following reports of a thick plume of black smoke rising in the area. The fire turned out to be an illegal burning of rubbish in a field, the CPD subsequently said.
Firefighters were then called to Paola, after a car caught fire while it was being driven past the Addolorata Cemetery. The driver and passenger quickly exited the vehicle and called for assistance. Nobody was hurt in the incident, the CPD said.
