Former Labour MP Robert Naudi died yesterday aged 71 following an illness.

The acting leader of the Labour Party Charles Mangion said that in his political work in the 1970s and 1980s, Dr Naudi had always been close to the families he represented as an MP. He lived through beautiful and ugly experiences with the people and was always at the forefront to support people facing difficulties, both as a family doctor and also as a representative of the people.

Dr Naudi, who was elected to Parliament in 1976 and 1981, was a well known and loved family doctor in Msida. He served as Malta's medical representative in the United Nations.

He sat on the Msida parish pastoral council and also served as a leader of the charismatic renewal group Ir-Raghaj it-Tajjeb.

Last summer he was awarded Gieh l-Imsida by the local council for his services to the Msida community.

He was married to Jane and had two daughters and three grandchildren. He is also missed by his siblings Anton and Marlene.
