Heritage Malta will be opening all its museums and sites for free next Thursday as part of the 10 anniversary celebrations of Malta’s accession to the EU.

Practically all Heritage Malta sites will be free of charge with the exception of the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, Ta’ Hagrat and Skorba Temples, due to restrictions and sensitivity of the sites.

The sites which will be open are St Paul’s Catacombs, the Domvs Romana in Rabat, the National Museum of Natural History in Mdina, the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Archaeology, the National War Museum, the Palace Armoury and State Rooms in Valletta, the Malta Maritime Museum and Inquisitor’s Palace in Vittoriosa, Għar Dalam Cave in Birżebbuġa, Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra Temples in Qrendi and Tarxien Temples in Malta and the Museum of Archaeology, the Folklore Museum, the Gozo Nature Museum, the Old Prison at the Citadel in Victoria, Ta’ Kola Windmill and Ġgantija Temples in Gozo.

Merchandise and membership will be available at special prices from most sites.

During the open day, visitors to the National Museum of Archaeology will also be able to visit the exhibition “Malta, the great story of a small island-nation through 100 objects”.

The exhibition takes the visitor on a discovery trip, reaching back to the geological formation of the Maltese Islands 35 million years ago until the milestone constitutional achievements of the past 50 years.
