A seven-year-old girl was rescued and ferried to hospital by helicopter this afternoon after a cabin cruiser sank between L-ahrax and Comino.
Informed sources said the girld's life was saved by emergency CPR administered by a doctor who had been on a nearby boat. The girl resumed breathing and was hoisted on board the Alouette helicopter and transferred to hospital within minutes.
During the same rescue a man was ferried to Marfa where first aid was administered by an ambulance crew. His condition is not serious.
The incident happened at about 5.30 p.m.
