Floriana needed three second half goals to see off a resolute Rabat side 3-0 at the Tedesco Stadium this afternoon.

After a lifeless first half, in which both sides struggled to create any decent scoring opportunities, the match finally took off when the Greens introduced Duncan Pisani and switched to a 3-5-2 formation.

The Greens took the lead on 58 minutes. Pisani was upended by Dylan Falzon deep into the right channel. From the resultant free-kick, taken by Aman Verma, Aaron Brown was first to the ball and directed a header past goalkeeper Jonathan Azzopardi.

Rabat had a glorious opportunity to draw level on 65 minutes when Manuel Fuster dispossessed Kane Farrugia and quickly served Adam Smeir who incredibly failed to make contact with the ball in front of a gaping goal.Floriana doubled their lead on 70 minutes when Pisani found Trevor Cilia inside the area and the Floriana midfielder unleashed a powerful drive that gave no chance to Azzopardi.

The match was over as a contest on 72 minutes when this time Cilia turned provider as he played in substitute Ryan Darmanin who beat Azzopardi with a low drive.

Both teams finished the match with ten men when on 82 minutes Brown was involved in an altercation with Patrick Borg and both players were dismissed.

Floriana's Trevor Cilia was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
