The General Workers Union would explain the burdens of EU membership to each and every one of its sections, general secretary Tony Zarb said yesterday.
Speaking at a union seminar at the Jerma Palace in Marsascala, Mr Zarb said the GWU was being continuously attacked because its position on the EU differed from that of the government.
"We will explain the situation to all sections, irrespective of the price we will have to pay," he said.
Mr Zarb said the GWU was not against the EU but it believed that membership was not beneficial to the country or its members.
Malta, he said, had been allowed to deteriorate for the past 10 years. But, unlike the government, the union had confidence in Maltese workers.
