The police intend to be vigilant in Swieqi on Halloween night, October 31, after residents last year complained of many youngsters wearing masks and throwing eggs, flour and shaving foam at cars and houses.

Swieqi council yesterday said police would be present on the streets of Swieqi, Ibrag and Madliena, and were ready to take action against people who wore masks or costumes, or who committed acts of vandalism.

In a statement also on behalf of the police commissioner, the council said it was illegal to wear masks and costumes except during the three days of Carnival.
