Giovanni Tedesco will make his return to Maltese football after he was appointed coach of Ħamrun Spartans, on Thursday.

The 46-year old Italian tactician was at the helm of Floriana during the 2017/2018 campaign but he left the Greens post in December 2017 following their upset defeat against Naxxar Lions in the FA Trophy.

The year before, Tedesco steered the Greens towards victory in the same competition, after overcoming rivals Sliema Wanderers in the final.

Previously, the former Palermo player was in charge of Birkirkara whom he guided towards a famous 1-0 victory over West Ham in the qualifiers of the Europa League in the 2015/2016 season.
