Having just laboured through the esteemed and ‘learned’ writer’s back-page article (‘Are you being serious?’, March 19), I was struggling to see his point other than cheap, snide point scoring on Sir Andrew Cook’s article (‘Bring back the Sterling Area – a safe, stable alternative’, March 16).

It became evident in the last two paragraphs. Strong leadership on monetary affairs. Surely not Joseph Muscat, Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri.

Fantasy is free of charge. That exposes itself on a daily basis with every new allegation of cover-ups, backhanders and visa sales.

Everyone seems to have an opinion on Brexit. Which would receive some attention were their own government’s house in order.

Let’s just imagine there are no allegations. Could be a motto of the government: head in sand.
