Mary Darmanin from the Department of Education Studies, Faculty of Education, has returned from a week's meetings in London and Glasgow in connection with the International Benchmark Review of UK Sociology.

Earlier in the year she was invited by the Economic and Social Research Council, the British Sociological Association, and the heads and professors of British Sociology to be a member on a panel of nine International Sociology Experts to benchmark UK Sociology. Prof. Helga Nowotny, vice president of the European Research Council, chaired the meeting.

The previous week, Prof. Darmanin was in Vienna to present preliminary results from the Seventh Framework Programme Project 'Religious Education in Multicultural Contexts' to the REMC Project core group.

The results will be presented at a seminar to be held at the Centre for Research in Education.

Inclusion and Diversity, University of Edinburgh, Scotland, next month. Dissemination meetings will be held in Malta in December.
