Institute of Tourism Studies executive director Henry Mifsud has asked to be suspended from his duties pending a government investigation into claims of irregularities.

The Tourism Ministry said it took all the necessary measures and, on March 18, requested the Internal Audit and Investigations Department to investigate. Mr Mifsud denied being involved in any irregularities and requested to be suspended to ensure a completely transparent invesigation, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, Pierre Fenech has been appointed on an interim basis as the institute’s executive director.
