A new garden in Mqabba was inaugurated after it was rebuilt from scratch.

The garden, located in a five-storey-high quarry, had suffered extensive damage after parts of it collapsed. A concrete bed was constructed, on which the garden was rebuilt.

The project was carried out by employees of the Works Division within the Infrastructure and Resources Ministry, who laid the paving and installed new electricity poles and benches. The street furniture was built by the ministry's manufacturing and services section.

The garden was inaugurated last week by Infrastructure and Resources Minister Ninu Zammit.

A five-a-side football ground opposite the garden has also been given a facelift, through structural works and the building of sanitary facilities. This was done through a joint venture between the ministry, the local council and the Mqabba Football Club.
