Malta's contenders for the Eurovision Song Contest title, Julie and Ludwig, yesterday launched their CD single On Again... Off Again.

The CD includes the new version of the song, which will compete in the contest next month, a dance mix and video track as well as a new track, Intensity.

Produced by Ralph Siegel of Jupiter Records, the CD will be distributed by renowned record label BMG Germany.

Speaking during the launch of the CD at Exotique, in Sliema yesterday, Maltasong chairman Grace Borg said there was evidence that pirate copies of the Malta Song Festival album, released by all the Maltese artistes, were available on the local market. Copies had been submitted to the fraud squad.

She warned of criminal and civil action against the sellers. "The civil violation of copyright gives us the right to claim damages. If we want to help our local talent, we have to stop this daylight robbery," she said.

Julie and Ludwig leave for London today to continue with their promotional tour. They will take part in the New Europe Festival, organised by the Foreign Commonwealth Office, which will celebrate the EU enlargement and showcase the cultures and traditions of the new members.
