A new book, Is-Santwarju Parrokkjali Ta’ Kerċem u ġrajjietu (1453-2011), by Kerċem priest Karm Borg was recently launched at Kerċem parish church.

Introducing the launch, historian Mgr Dr Joseph Bezzina said the author has been researching the history of this small parish church for many years and this came out very clearly from the many references listed in the book. Dr Bezzina said the history of the parish was intertwined with that of the village and its inhabitants. “The church is a living monument which our forefathers raised as a sign of their faith and a witness to their innate love for their village,” Dr Bezzina said.

Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, who is also from Kerċem, spoke on the successful venture by the author and invited those present to emulate “our forefathers in cherishing throughout our lives the faith of Jesus Christ”.  Kerċem parish priest Brian Mejlak and Mgr Borg also spoke on the great effort put together in publishing such a lavishly-illustrated, coffee table book.
