Citroen's Sebastien Loeb made world rally history in Argentina yesterday as the first driver to win six races in a row and seven in a single season.
The Frenchman, whose run of success started in New Zealand in April, dominated the event in Cordoba and finished a comfortable 26.1 seconds ahead of Peugeot's Marcus Gronholm.
Subaru's Petter Solberg, still Loeb's closest rival in an increasingly one-sided championship, finished third but off the pace after suffering brake problems on Saturday.
With seven races to come, world champion Loeb now has a 27-point lead in the championship over Solberg with Gronholm moving up to take third place.
Loeb has 75 points, Solberg 48 and Gronholm 45.
Defending champions Citroen edged a further point ahead of stablemates Peugeot in the manufacturers' standings.
Before yesterday, Loeb had shared the record number of wins in a season with compatriot Didier Auriol, who won six rounds in 1992 while still failing to win the championship that season.
As well as his five wins in a row - New Zealand, Italy, Cyprus, Turkey and Greece - Loeb also won the season-opening Monte Carlo Rally.
