The governemnt has welcomed EU statistics showing that consumer sentiment in the eurozone is highest in Malta, for the 11th successive month.

The consumer sentiment index in Malta reached 118, 18% higher than the eurozone average.

The government noted that Maltese respondents were optimistic about every sector of the economy, with the retail and construction sectors recording the highest levels since the survey started being held.

Operators in Maltese financial services showed the highest level of optimism throughout the eurozone. 

The government said it was confident there was more Maltese potential that remained to the tapped and further initiatives to boost business and families will be announced in the coming weeks.
