A 49-year-old man resident in St Paul's Bay  was seriously injured early on Thursday when his scooter was hit by a BMW.

The accident happened at Triq Buqana, below the Mdina bastions, at about 5.30am.

The car was being driven by a 28-year-old woman from Mtarfa.

The police are investigating.
