A man is in critical condition following a traffic accident in Tarxien on Sunday.

The police said the accident happened in Triq tal-Barrani at 5.15pm.

They said the 40-year-old victim, who lives in Xgħajra, was driving a Toyota Hi-Ace when he lost control and crashed into a tree and barricades dividing the road.

He was given first aid by a medical team on site and was then taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

The police are investigating.
