A total of 155 candidates obtained the Matriculation Certificate this year with an overall Grade A, 399 with a Grade B and 577 with a Grade C, the University of Malta said.

In May 2004, the corresponding figures were 179 Grade As, 378 Grade Bs and 532 Grade Cs.

A total of 1,131 candidates obtained the certificate as compared to last year's 1,089.There were 2,455 candidates this year compared to last year's 2,059, an increase of 19.2 per cent.
