A 'Mega Dive' was recently organised by diver Raniero Borg in celebration of the 20th anniversary since the inauguration of the statue of Kristu tal-Baħħara.

After the dive, Maltese platters and wine were served. During the celebration, Mr Borg thanked the Malta Red Cross and Malta Civil Protection who were on site throughout the dive. He also expressed his appreciation to all the photographers and cameramen who voluntarily provided their services so the divers would have a keepsake of the day.

Mr Borg had conceived the idea of placing a statue of Christ on the seabed at St Paul's Bay in 1990 and Pope John Paul II had blessed it during his visit to Malta.

After 10 years, the statue was moved from St Paul's Bay and put at Qawra point.
